Yes, well… not your usual blog post but I thought it'd be a nice change. Anyway, to cut a long story short, just before the awful 2009 ended and a 3 days before my move I was contacted by Dominika, who was very determined to find a design skilled individual to help her promoting local concerts for the largest Polish charity called Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy (Great Orchestra of Christmas Help) which collects money all around the world to fund ridiculously expensive hospital equipment saving children's life. Each year is ended with these massive concerts in all major cities on all continents and this time Brighton proudly joined the long list of participating branches with me more than happy to help.

Unfortunately all my furniture was already dismantled and I was forced to sit on the floor with screen on the level of my knees... As you can imagine, it's not the most comfortable position but I managed to deal with it and produce this:
My Poster Design for 2010 Brighton WOŚP event

OK, OK I know - it's not the most amazing thing ever, but my biggest concern was to make it both recognisable for Polish dudes and interesting for Brightonians. I had to use certain elements from existing campaign (e.g: text treatment in top part) and make it look nice. Another frustrating stage involved squeezing actual copy on the poster - I'm not sure why some people think that a poster should be filled with every possible bit of information that ever existed on the subject! FFS! In the end I trimmed it down by 80% (;

But enough of this boring design stuff! When everything was at the printers it was the time to prepare for the music night! As expected the whole lighting was pretty rubbish and the only reason I could shoot at all was my beloved 50mm 1.4F Canon. I'm not going to elaborate on these photos any longer - feel free to browse through these 'few' shots or go directly to the Flickr gallery.

    Congrats on your charity project despite working without furniture! I like it. Nice shots, too. Did your move go okay?

      Thanks - multitasking between Photoshop, InDesign, window and kitchen cleaning is always fun(; I still partially live on boxes but it's caused by me being lazy rather than lack of space...
